Obviously, a private citizen who wants to start their own business on a shoestring does not qualify as future economic development.

It is highly unprofessional, that I have to read in the Rocket-Miner that a space I had been led to believe was allotted to me, was allotted to someone else. I submitted a letter of intent in November. I attended the open house in December and yet I heard nothing to indicate that I was not to have a space in the Tomahawk Building. I have since found out that the person who was allotted that space was approached at the same time I submitted my letter. Furthermore, rumors abound that
another business will be going in the large space that has been "under
construction" for months. This other business tried making a go of it in Green River several years ago and decided to move to Rock Springs, yet they want to come back?
Is it only businesses that have a proven track record, be it good or
bad, that meet the criteria for selection? The bylaws of the Futures of your board, in case you have forgotten, state: The purpose for which Green River Futures, Inc. is organized is to promote economic growth, economic diversity and economic prosperity in and around the City of Green River, Wyoming. How can you ethically encourage or solicit a business that has already moved out of Green River that might have failed and that was the reason for the move? To me this is a slap in the face to any person who is
willing to try to start a brand new business in this town.
I contacted Brad Sutherland, who is being used as a scapegoat in this instance, where you as a board should have had the courage to
approach or write me a letter stating that you had selected another business to occupy the space I was interested in. Had I received any indication that I was not to be chosen for a spot I would have been actively exploring other opportunities for the location of my fledgling business.
As it stands, my city business license, as you well know, most of you being business owners yourself, comes up for renewal before the end of the month. This has caused a great deal of disenchantment with the whole idea
of ever starting a business in Green River. Why should I decide to renew if I am unable to find a location for my business that others keep telling me I need foot traffic to succeed? To me this whole situation is contrary
to the mission statement of the Futures, Inc.
Green River Futures, Inc. seeks to promote a spirit of unity and
cooperation in order to plan, organize and positively impact the future economic development of our community through the creation of stable employment opportunities sufficient to maintain a high standard of living and quality of life.
This has impacted me in such a deeply negative way that I hope you as aboard will be dissolved by the City Council and that any and all of you are never considered for appointment on any kind of board ever again.
